Do you need to laugh? Do you need some Neil Patrick Harris playing a monkey named Steve? How about some Mr. T?
Do you need to remember that it’s ok to accept yourself as you are, nerdy tendencies, ponytail and all? Do you need to remember to strive for greatness but also that greatness should be mankind serving not just self-serving?
Watch this flick. I never thought I would say this, but it’s even better than the book.
It’s so good I nearly watched it twice in a row. It made me laugh and it was, shall we say, uplifting?
And if nothing else, the line “let’s carpe some diem!” shows up somewhere around 2/3 of the way through. I needed that reminder to diem some carpe last weekend. I really did.
Now it’s off to do some bday present shopping before turning in the forms that will hopefully render me employed in an office just down the hall from Chris’ office.
It’s a set up similar to the one we enjoyed our first year of dating and I’m looking forward to having that routine again. Getting into the office before Chris because he’s a sleepy head, enjoying some email chats in between work, grabbing lunch or a coffee on a stressful day, stealing a sideways, flirtatious grin in the hallway, driving home together after work sharing all of the trials and tribulations of the day–ready, by the time we reach the homestead, to cast off the work day, trade trousers for sweatpants and slip into the coziness of home and and dinner and daydreams about the upcoming weekend.
Can’t wait, but first I have to turn in all those forms. 🙂
