Today started out promising with blue skies and a stop by not just one but two dumpling restaurants and a brief hangout at our favorite coffee place owned by two of the nicest people I’ve met so far in Chengdu.
Unfortunately, the day ended with a stolen scooter (ours-and while locked and parked in front of guards), a run-in (literally) with a giant umbrella (don’t ask), lots of drilling in the apartment above us (24/7 construction noises were sooo not part of the lease agreement but still show no signs of abating) a flooded laundry room, and delayed flights for Chris’ parents.
I guess you win some and you lose some. In the grand scheme of things, none of it is too bad and I still count us as being firmly on the “lucky” and “blessed” side of things.
To wind down tonight (and to avoid any further mishaps) we hung out with some bad 80’s and 90’s movies on the Asia-version of HBO. I had no idea Reese Witherspoon ever wore black and white spotted pants with a sequined blue tank top in her career, but apparently she did. And it was mildly entertaining.
Blue skies do not automatically ensure a stress-free fantastic day, though they do help make a not so great day a bit nicer.
